A & B Survey Results

A & B

Nearly 700 6th -12th grade New Albany Floyd County School students participated in The Search Institute’s Profiles of Student Life Attitude & Behavior (A & B) Survey during the 2004-05 school year.  Their responses indicate that our young people possess an average of 20.2 assets and that just over half of the Floyd County respondents possess adequate or optimal numbers of assets

Some high and low results of this self-survey by students include:

78% of youth report a positive view of their personal future

76% report their family shows a high level of love and support

71% report acting on their convictions and standing up for their beliefs

48% feel they have no power of things that happen to them

ONLY 35% report positive communication between themselves and their family

ONLY 30% know how to plan ahead and make choices

ONLY 30% feel the community values them

ONLY 28% read for pleasure
