Dr. Claudia Crump recognized at Gold Leaf Luncheon
Congratulations and appreciation to Dr. Claudia Crump, Co-Director of the Center for Cultural Resources at IUS and retired professor IUS School of Education, who was recognized by Youth Count at the regional 2009 Gold Leaf Volunteer Recognition event sponsored by Community Foundation of Southern Indiana.

Claudia’s work with Youth Count makes a difference in our community.  She embraces the philosophy of building assets for youth, even seeking and receiving permission to adapt the copyrighted list of 40 Developmental Assets for meaningful use at the Center for Cultural Resources, especially in regards to diversity and poverty.  In the fall of 2008 she organized and hosted a day-long action lab, sharing the positive power of asset development for approximately 60 IUS education students and local educators, who are now empowered to model this approach in their own work.

As one of the first volunteers with Youth Count, Claudia is proactive in identifying and implementing actions that promote asset building for youth by infusing it into her ongoing, lifelong efforts of educating, encouraging, motivating, challenging and validating our young people.  She also actively encourages other adults to take similar actions.  In all her undertakings, Claudia demonstrates grace, dignity and professionalism, all wrapped with enthusiasm.  She sets a great example for all of us.
